Diamond Tycoon, Great Hawk and Kandidate are the trio to make the shortlist here and Diamond Tycoon, impressive first time out last season, can resume winning ways on his re-appearance. Sir Michael Stoute's Great Hawk is a dual handicap winner from last year, but he was raised significantly in class when contesting the Winter Derby a fortnight ago. He ran a blinder to be a close third, and he must be thereabouts in this ostensibly weaker contest. This Listed affair also represents the weakest contest Kandidate has contested since scoring in Dubai a year ago. He has run some good races in defeat, but there is the doubt a finishing kick often eldudes him. Diamond Tycoon has not been seen since finishing ninth in the 2,000 Guineas. His win at Newbury last year was very impressive, and the form turned out to be excellent. Something was clearly amiss on Guineas day as he has been off the course since, and in the belief that he can return to his previous form, Diamond Tycoon is taken to lord it over his rivals and show his sparkle.
