Nonrunner
A typically open handicap to conclude proceedings where the usual suspects Jools, Beneking, Postmaster, Hills Place and Terry Molloy are all likely to play their part and the tentative vote goes to Postmaster. The Roger Ingram-trained runner came back to form last time when runner-up to Justcallmehandsome, who went on to run well under a penalty since. Postmaster has gone up just 1lb for that c&d run, so provided he can reproduce his effort he look capable of winning. Jools went a long time between drinks, having dropped 29lb between wins at Windsor in June 2005 and Wolverhampton in May this year. He has since managed to add a further 7f win here to his CV, but he again looks too high in the weights now. Beneking should benefit from the drop back to a mile after an abortive attempt over 10f last time, and if he sees out the mile then he can be bang there from this mark. Terry Molloy was not far away at Musselburgh last time but a 1lb drop might not be quite enough to see him win, while Hills Place handled the trip well enough last time and has been competitive from this mark in the past, so cannot be confidently ruled out. Not a race for major financial involvement and Postmaster just gets the nod.
