CHAT DE LA BURG shaped with plenty of promise on his debut at Newmarket and John Best's colt is taken to see off a list of dangers that includes Layla's Lad, Robens Rock and La Fortunata. John Best is finishing this season better than the majority of the months, with five winners in October his best tally since April. This Johannesburg colt cost $130,000 and although those who finished behind him at Newmarket have not franked the form, the feeling is that there should be more to come. The highest-rated horse in the race is La Fortunata. John Jenkin's filly has done little wrong in her seven races to date and she looks sure to give backers a good run for their money. Any support for the newcomers would be of interest, especially Ahwahnee (a sister to Godfrey Street) and Layla's Lad (related to plenty of US winners), both of whom represent stables who can ready a newcomer. Lexi's Layla took a big backward step at Bath last time but is better rated on her two previous runs, Key Art has had plenty of opportunities and looks flattered by his official rating, whilst support for the once-raced The Strig would raise an eyebrow or two. A decent maiden, where Chat De La Burg is the nomination.
