Verdict
The James Fanshawe-trained Bronze Star catches the eye and gets the nod over Melvino and Jazrawy. The last named was the subject of good support when he won at Southwell earlier in the month and is obviously in good heart just now. However, a 7lb rise in the weights looks harsh and he needs everything to go his way. Melvino has also gone up in the weights after a smooth success at Wolverhampton 11 days ago. The gelding was not winning out of turn on that occasion and it would not be surprising to see him go close again today. Even so, the unexposed Bronze Star looks a fair type for a race like this and, even under a 6lb penalty for a bloodless course and distance success last time, the Mark Of Esteem filly looks the one to beat in a modest finale to Kempton's action today.
