Midmaar gets the vote over Monte Major, Make My Dream and Glenargo in an open-looking affair. Midmaar was successful at Kempton in November, confirming the belief that he goes well fresh, that Banded victory coming on the back of a six-month break. He is a lot better than that bare form suggests, and having had another 44-days off, lines up on a fair mark. With the blinkers to help again, Michael Wigham's gelding should make a bold bid to see off the challenges of the likes of Monte Major and Make My Dream. The latter is blinkered for the first time as he bids to go one better than when beaten a head in a Wolverhampton maiden at the end of last month, but is proving costly to follow and is worth taking on. Monte Major has been out of form since scoring over five furlongs at Wolverhampton in February, and the jury is out over whether he truly stays six furlongs, while Glenargo has not progressed since the summer. All in all, this appears to be a good opportunity for Midmaar to follow up.
