    Verdict

JAKE THE SNAKE had a legitimate, albeit highly unusual, excuse here last time. Looking the likely winner in a fight to the line with Caprio, the latter tried to bite him, causing him to lose both vital momentum and the race by the narrowest of margins. Tony Carroll's charge can gain deserved compensation here. Majuro was favoured at the weights when an easy winner of a seller at Wolverhampton in November. However, he faces tougher opposition today including Slikback Jack, who drops in class and Syrian, who is reunited with winning partner Jamie Spencer.
