      Verdict

We'll take a chance with Juwwi in the hope that Eddie Ahern can coax him into bringing his best step forward. He wins in his turn, and because he is now one-pound lower in the ratings than for his Doncaster win in May, a case can be made for him in this tricky event. Turning to the others. Justalord is six pounds higher than for his Musselburgh win but has remained competitive since. Shoeshine Boy is struggling to get back to his best even though the handicapper is relenting with him. He won from a mark of 100 two years ago but is now rated 75. Beyond Calculation is just pound higher than for his most recent win so has to be given claims. Hard To Catch has found things trickier since being raised seven pounds for a Brighton victory. Lady Pekan is a course and distance winner but has not won since her juvenile days, although she could well be capable off today's mark. Tomthevic hails from a stable in form but is five pounds higher than for his Windsor win last month, although this represents a drop in class from his latest run. Abraxas is very hard to fancy.
