In depth

Verdict

Fyodor's third to Azarole at Newmarket makes him a major player in this company and he gets the vote. The Willie Haggas-trained son of Fasliyev is well up to landing a race of this nature based on his two runs so far and will not lack for fitness. Flipando did well to finish third after a slow start on his debut and comes firmly into the reckoning, as does Local Poet, who was sixth on his Windsor debut in a race that is working out well. This drop to five furlongs from that run might suit him too. Schinken Otto made some late gains on his debut but Kingsmaite and Juniper Banks look ordinary based on what we have seen so far. A market move for Alan Berry's Lady Oasis, a half-sister to the smart colt King O'Mana would be interesting, while Kevin Darley is an interesting booking for Annie Miller, who has a mixture of speed on her sire's side and stamina on the female side. Overall, though, Fyodor looks the most likely option.
