Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute's High Action is bound to prove popular here but, from a good family, Late Claim can take advantage of the weight he is getting and gets our vote. He needed all of the 12 furlongs that Chester had to offer last time and, on a more galloping track here, can be given every chance of following up now that the penny seems to be dropping with him. High Action won over course and distance last time but the feeling is that he will need to build again on that, which is not out of the question, of course. Flotta is a lightly-raced maiden but is four pounds better off with High Action for two lengths when they met at Pontefract, so it should be closer based on that. Double Obsession rates a danger. After winning twice at Ascot he disappointed at Goodwood, but he would not be the first to do so at that undulating track. We should learn more about him today. Robe Chinoise ran well in Listed company in June but disappointed last time at York over two furlongs further than today's trip. She is capable of running well here but might just be a bit vulnerable under top weight to a progressive type. For us, Late Claim fits that bill and gets the nomination.
