Verdict

The vote here goes to Spring Margot ahead of Roschal, Saafend Rocket and Mercato. Admittedly, the selection was disappointing at Doncaster last time, but had earlier run well when fourth at Sandown from a two-pound higher mark than today. This looks an easier heat and, having won from a pound-higher mark in November, his chance is there for all to see really. Turning to the others and Soeur Fontenail has won from a higher mark than today and has proven fairly competitive from around today's mark of late. Roschal would hold claims on his Huntingdon run but disappointed at Newbury a couple of days ago. The consistent Saafend Rocket is two pounds better off for the head that Roschal beat him at Huntingdon, and he can go well. Mercato would have a chance if rediscovering his form of a year ago, while the French import Key Phil is one to watch for in the betting. Irish import Native Performance is possibly one to watch on his British debut and Trouble Ahead, now 14, looks worth opposing off topweight. However, if Spring Margot is at or near the top of his game, he looks to hold solid claims and, as such, he gets the call.
