    In depth

    Verdict

A stinker of a race in which Lopinot gets the vote ahead of Ektimaal. The last-named has form figures that suggest a win is imminent, however he has been frustrating for punters to follow and so he is tentatively passed over today. However, if the horse has strengthened up in the 80 days since his last run, he could be a force to reckon with, with Jamie Spencer on board. Peter Makin has enjoyed a fruitful winter on the all-weather, and he will be hoping that his gelding Lopinot can build on two markedly improved performances. He is proven around here, and must surely go close, especially with Seb Sanders looking a positive booking. It would be a shock is anything else was good enough to win today, although money for the newcomers could be worth heeding. However, for the winner we will side with Lopinot.
