The meeting ends on a whimper with some ordinary performers but something has to win it and Firebird Annie is the token selection against Wodhill Be and Ai Hawa. The selection is exposed as plating class but does have the virtues of being less exposed than most. The Alan Bailey stable are always to be feared at this level and any market confidence for the confirmed front-runner would be welcomed. Wodhill Be seems to have been around forever and she steps up in trip tonight. Ai Hawa is respected on some of her earlier Irish form while Stagnite, who is something of a regular in low-grade events of this nature, holds few secrets for the handicapper. Sion Hill is a light of his former self but he wouldn't have to produce anything like a career best to go close in such a mediocre contest. A bad race to be getting out in and Firebird Annie is recommended to the most minimum of stakes.
