In depth

Verdict

Big Bertha, Telegonus and Leac An Scail are the shortlisted trio here with Big Bertha set to lead them home. After scoring over hurdles at Newcastle, Leac An Scail was a faller next time over fences at Newcastle. A bumper winner on his debut, he is not the most consistent of types but this is a weak contest and he does have recent winning form. A winner at Exeter, Telegonus was a little out of his grade next time before running a good second last time, staying on at the finish. This trip may be on the short side for him and the sharp track may also not suit but he hails from a yard in form and is respected. Three time Flat winner Big Bertha is still a maiden over hurdles, but has shaped well twice recently in Kelso contests. The handicapper has left her on the same mark as when second in a similar race last time, and the trip should suit. Big Bertha can prove too powerful for her rivals.
