Verdict

Any support in the betting for the well-related Al Jathaab would raise a few eyebrows however preference is for another newcomer, namely HARTY BOY, in an open-looking maiden. From a form point of view, the horse to beat is Love Pegasus. Mark Johnston's gelding seemed to improve from first to second runs but the form is nothing outstanding. Instead then a chance is taken on Harty Boy, a fairly well-related son of Stravinsky. Also catching the eye on debut are National Monument (a half-brother to Elk Trail), Cherry Plum (a half-sister to Kingsholm) and Milemilia. However the last-named is likely to need a stiffer test of stamina as a relative of some useful stayers in Europe. The other horses to have raced need to improve on what they have shown so far, and so it is Harty Boy who is put forward as a tentative selection.
