A competitive contest here where we will take a chance on MAGGIE LOU to have the edge over Evelyn May, Lesley's Choice and Theatre Street. The selection was highly tried in Group company towards the end of last season after having finished just outside the frame in a Listed contest in France. This is much more appropriate to her ability, which she had revealed with a debut maiden win at Haydock. Kevin Ryan has his string in decent nick and we are going to side with his filly. Another trainer in cracking form is Barry Hills and he saddles Evelyn May here, who has a better chance than most. The Acclamation filly won a Great Leighs maiden last year and was last seen running second over course and distance from a 1lb higher mark. She is likely to be straight enough here and can go very well. Lesley's Choice has a course and distance win to his name and also races from 1lb lower than last time out when he was well beaten over 6f at Southwell. The return to the minimum trip looks likely to be of benefit but he may just be in the grip of the assessor for now. Affluent scored on heavy ground on her Nottingham debut and her mark of 77 for this handicap debut looks spot on. However, the trip may now be shorter than ideal for her and perhaps she will have to wait for other days. Theatre Street has raced only left-handed so far on Lingfield's Polytrack, where she has run four good races including a maiden win over this trip. There was nothing wrong with her handicap debut last time and from the same mark over this shorter trip she is likely to get competitive. Satwa Street does not know how to run a bad race and would not be winning out of turn, but we will take a chance on Maggie Lou.
