Giant Slalom gets the vote over Toucantini and Buddies Girl in an interesting contest. Buddies Girl had shown plenty of ability at some of the top tracks before finishing well beaten in a sales race at Ascot last time. These sales races tend to be competitive affairs and she should not be discounted. Toucantina will be a popular choice here, representing Roger Charlton. The Inchinor filly has just had the one outing but shaped with considerable promise, doing all her best work at the finish. She was beaten comfortably though, and there is a big question mark about those runners she beat. Giant Slalom's ability to handle the all-weather surface has to be taken on trust, but he ran well on his Pontefract debut, finishing just a length second behind a well backed winner. A son of Tomba, Willie Haggas' runner will have improved for the run and the field were well strung out at Pontefract, suggesting it was a well run race. Giant Slalom can weave his way through and take this.
