Verdict

PURPLE SPECTRUM won over a slightly longer trip at Wolverhampton in January. Only 2lb higher today, John Jenkins' charge may well be good enough on the back of a good effort at York. Gavlar scored over 2m at Goodwood last time but only by a neck and is upped 4lb while Haines has shown further progress since landing a double over track and trip at the end of last year. Though a 1m4f winner, Aussie Andre attempts a longer distance but winning hurdler Nyanza won twice on the Flat here last year.
