Len Lungo's two runners Brave Lord and Mr Auchterlonie have both shown ability but it will be a surprise if this does not go to Provocative, who gets a confident vote. Martin Todhunter's gelding, a winner at Carlisle and Ayr this term, lost no caste in defeat behind the useful Diamant Noir at Doncaster last time. A break since then should have freshened up the son of Useful and he looks to be the one they all have to beat. Perth winner Brave Lord looks the pick of Len Lungo's representatives but he has struggled since that success in May and may need fences to show his best. Stablemate Mr Auchterlonie has shown only hints of ability so far but may be capable of better. Harrovian has a long absence to overcome and of more interest among the other runners is Alistair Charlton's Snowy but this really should go to Provocative, who is taken to give weight away all round.
