Shrove Tuesday will be popular but the claims of Contendo are preferred with Optimistic Harry and Sol Run others worthy of consideration. Tony Martin's raiders are always to be feared and Shrove Tuesday could be a warm order as she'll handle the ground, stays all day and has hardly any weight on her back as she makes her debut over hurdles. She's no star though and there's been enough to like about the performances of Contendo to take a chance on him. Admittedly, there was only a glimmer of ability in his first six outings but he showed improved form on his reappearance in November to finish third over 2 miles on his handicap debut at Ayr. He has to prove he can build on that and has his stamina to prove but he's bred to get a trip and this isn't a strong contest. Sol Run posted a better effort last time but isn't certain to see out this trip as well as others whilst Optimistic Harry is unraced on ground as testing as this. Not an easy puzzle to solve but Contendo could be the answer.
