It may not pay to take a short price about Kupatana, who has now failed to complete in three of her last four starts and may be suffering a lack of confidence. Kalahari Queen was unlucky at Exeter and then won a three-runner race at Wetherby so shouldn’t be far away again but MY OLD GOLD has improved markedly since tackling fences and, if Kupatana and chasing debutante Tokaramore duel for the lead, could make the most of her stamina on this stiff track.
Kalahari Queen 5-4fav (10-12) Tracked leader, hit 11th, challenged 13th, pushed along before 4 out, shaken up before next, led approaching the last, kept on well run-in, won at Wetherby 2m 5f (4) gd in Feb beating Little Miss Poet (11-4) by 3 3/4l, 3 ran.
Kupatana (IRE) 8-11fav (11-8) Tended to jump left, led, 3 lengths clear and going well when went left, hit and fell 2 out, at Ludlow 2m 4f hcp (3) gd in Feb.
My Old Gold (IRE) 11-10fav (11-5) Chased leaders, not fluent 9th, ridden after 2 out, edged left and went 2nd before last, no impression on winner, 2nd of 4, 3l behind Blue Flight (11-6) at Kelso 2m 7f hcp (3) gd in Feb.
Tokaramore 3-1 (11-13) Made all, jumped left throughout, challenged from 3 out, hard ridden when pressed from last, all out, held on gamely, won at Musselburgh 2m 4f hcp (4) gd in Feb beating Rubytwo (11-9) by nk, 8 ran.
