Verdict

A competitive novices hurdle gets proceedings underway and a chance is taken on Shannon's Pride. The gelding by Roselier defeated Island Faith last time out at Ayr over a shorter trip, staying on well to lead close home. He should relish this extra distance and with conditions in his favour he will be hard to beat. General Duroc rates the main danger. He is from a yard in top form and he has won his last two races in the style of an improver. However, those victories have come with cut in the ground and these faster conditions may find him out. Rose d'April is held in high regard but he was very disappointing last time out. However his yard was going through a quiet time then and they are back amongst the winners now. So it may be too early to write him off. Case Of Poteen was third behind Savanna Mo last time out and that effort gives her definite place claims, but she has had many chances in similar races without winning. Clonroche Vinyls is from a yard in top form but his best efforts have come on heavy ground. Of the remainder The Byedein was second behind True Rose over two miles last time out but he is taking a massive step up in distance and he is not sure to stay. Sands Rising is worthy of respect on bits of his form, however he to may find this ground to lively.
