In depth

Verdict

The revised terms give Midlem Melody a good chance of reversing recent form with Hollows Mill and, as such, Stuart Coltheard's game mare is fancied to be the one to beat here. Others to consider include Kids Inheritance, who is capable of figuring strongly at this level, while Powder Creek should not be underestimated now that he seems to be back in good form. The drop in trip probably inspired his revival of late and, as he could be still well treated from his current mark, the son of Little Bighorn looks a solid each-way proposition if the prices permit. A similar comment applies to Compadre even though he is 3lb wrong at the weights. Peter Monteith's representative has held his form well this term and can make another bold bid to defy the handicapper's expectations on ground that poses no problems. Fiori is also worth noting in the betting market as he has a habit of popping up when least expected. Already a multiple winner under rules, the nine-year-old is better than he has been showing in Hunter Chases of late. He returns to handicap company on a very fair mark and should not be dismissed to quickly. A few of the rest have shown better form over further and the likes of Gangsters R Us and Galway Breeze are opposable on these terms. Therefore, we return to Midlem Melody as the most reliable option. Graham Lee gets on very well with this ultra-tough performer and, having already coaxed three wins out of her in the past, the Irishman is safe in the knowledge that he has a very willing partner when push come to shove this afternoon.
