Verdict

A competitive opener with Jim Goldie relying on a couple of stable stalwarts in Toshi and Regent's Secret but both look vulnerable here. This might just be the time to catch PILLAR OF HERCULES, a former Cecil inmate on the level and temptingly weighted on the best of his hurdles form, especially with the 10lb claim of the stable conditional taken into account. Ferdy Murphy usually takes time to get his season started so his presence here catches the eye. Claude Carter has assured fitness and consistency as his main weapons and should post another solid effort, though he was beaten by Parc Des Princes at Cartmel in August and the former Andrew Balding charge is a potential improver.
