In depth

Verdict

Aidan O’Brien has a good record in this and though Magical wasn’t quite at her best at Ascot last time she found only Enable too good in this back in 2018. She’s also preferred to the progressive Prix de l’Opera winner Tarnawa and finished in front of Lord North in the Juddmonte International at York earlier. Frankie prefers the latter to Mehdaayih but MOGUL is another Ballydoyle runner with every chance having beaten subsequent Arc runner-up In Swoop when landing a Group 1 in France last time under Pierre-Charles Boudot. Still improving, he may prove good enough in this. Channel Maker has been winning Grade 1 events and United finished runner-up in last year’s renewal, though was beaten by Red King at Del Mar in August. Arklow may struggle and German Group 1 winner Donjah will find the ground fast enough.
