The market should tell us all we need to know about MONSIEUR ARKADIN as he makes his debut under Rules after landing his only outing between the flags. Alan Johns has been seen to good effect for Tim Vaughan so far this season and his 5lb claim is taken to prove decisive against the more exposed Lord Bryan. The latter has shown enough in three starts to suggest he can land a run-of-the-mill bumper but his best run to date came on heavy ground and he looked slightly tapped for toe last time under quicker conditions. He is the obvious one to take advantage if the selection doesn't come up to scratch. Benefit Of Luck was noted staying on late on his bumper debut at Southwell and could be the sort to improve. Consequently, he is not ruled out, especially with his pilot claiming a useful 7lb.
