In depth

Verdict

Old Brigade, Sophisticated Lady and Knight Woodsman all have claims but if BAN UISCE turns out again he'll take all the beating, so the five-year-old gets our vote. Neil Mulholland's charge escapes a penalty for winning a race confined to conditionals and amateurs on Tuesday, running here off a mark of 91 once more. That was his second success in six starts so as an unexposed sort who relishes conditions and looks well handicapped it'd take a particularly persuasive case for us to turn elsewhere and nothing of that sort is forthcoming. There are several for whom a case of sorts can be made though, with Old Brigade heading that list. Jonjo O'Neill's runners remain in good heart and this one races off the same mark as when second last time. That was back in June so fitness has to be taken on trust and perhaps a market check is advisable before any wagers are placed. Sophisticated Lady is modest but she's been in decent form of late and runs off a nice weight, so she enters each way calculations along with Knight Woodsman who has no stamina questions to answer and Alex Merriam rates value for his claim. Another Storm is just three pounds higher than her last winning mark but surely wants the ground quicker so of more interest at a price is Fleur De Vassy who hasn't gone on from her debut second but could consequently be well treated. This is competitive enough but Ban Uisce won tidily last time and rates the solid one.
