In depth

Verdict

This does not look a particularly strong race but it possesses a good bit of interest. Annie Byers appeared not to stay behind Saitensohn at Sandown last time and, with the drop in trip likely to help, is one for the shortlist. Also on that list has to be bumper winner Ask Me What, Nicky Henderson's Poppet (if there is market support), Bangor bumper winner Tisho, from the in-form Paul Webber yard, dual bumper runner-up, Vicars Destiny (whose dam won over three miles) and Celtic Blaze, twice placed in decent company over hurdles. Both her and Annie Byers hold most appeal to us with the latter getting the vote. Of the others, Another Diamond is a dual Flat winner but, on breeding, isn't an obvious stayer, and the hurdling debutant but dual Flat winner (at 8/9f on easy going), Monica Geller.
