In depth

Verdict

Deep King won in Ireland back in July but has shown little in two hunter chases so far in Britain, although his saddle slipped last time. Hunters Tweed has yet to completely fulfil his potential but his trainer feels that this kind of trip when the going is not testing should suit him best for now. Broken Dream is improving, has fairly solid form, but connections feel that three miles will suit ideally in time. Jardin de Bealieu had looked up to winning a race of this nature before running very poorly last time, although his second to Skippers Cleuch earlier may have flattered him. Phildari has some reasonable placed efforts over hurdles but makes his debut here. Another chasing debutant, Diorama's form overall is modest. Palarshan, who gets the age allowance in the weights here, has come up against some very useful performers in defeat and deserves to get a win under his belt. He might be bred to win a Derby, but his jumping form entitles him to plenty of respect and he is the selection.
