In depth

Verdict

Miss Merenda, Classic Croco, Three Ships and Mohawk Star look to be the main contenders with the vote going to the last named. Mohawk Star will almost certainly go off favourite and deserves to be. A winner at Bangor in March and not disgraced at Perth when finishing fourth in a competitive novice contest he looks set to score again here. His biggest rival could be Miss Merenda who has been knocking on the door of late most notably when a good second to Gordan Highlander at Wincanton last time out so is worth noting in the market. Classic Croco is another who will be in the winners enclosure pretty soon but is still inexperienced and might find one or two of his rivals too good. Three Ships is another unexposed type with only two runs over hurdles under his belt. He was not disgraced on either of those runs but looked a little one paced when asked a question. So for the winner we return to Mohawk Star
