In depth

Verdict

The shortlist here contains Flaming Heck, Gofagold, Harem Scarem, Jumbo's Dream and, possibly, Mikasa, with the vote going to Gofagold. Ok, the selection has yet to win a race but has plenty of places to his name from higher marks, and more of the same puts him in the mix today. Flaming Heck could be interesting as he won from a four-pound lower mark at Newcastle last time and, lightly raced, should be on the up. The 14-year-olds Harem Scarem and Jumbo's Dream both hold solid chances on the best of their fairly-recent form, while Mikasa's second at Newcastle two runs ago gives him some sort of shout too. Of the others, Fayrway Rhythm has been disappointing since finishing second from a pound-lower mark at Carlisle last April, Impertio is well-weighted if putting it all in, but Sconced lacks chasing experience. This returns us to the selection, which is Gofagold.
