Verdict

Lancastrian Jet can atone for an unlucky defeat by beating Karadin, with Province best of the remaining trio in the finale. Lancastrian Jet has been a grand servant to Henry Daly over the years, and since being switched to this sphere has been in great heart, winning three of his four starts. The first of those was here at Hereford and subsequent victories at Towcester and Market Rasen have shown that he has lost none of his enthusiasm. The now 13-year-old should really be lining up unbeaten as he was going well at Towcester when hampered by a loose horse at the seventh fence, causing him to part company with Marc Barber. This small field should not pose any problems and he can dominate from start to finish. Karadin has not raced since losing out to Far Dawn when odds-on at Southwell last March but should pick up one or two hunter chases this year. He should not beat the selection though, nor should Province who comes here after winning a four-mile point-to-point 12 days ago. Although now in the twilight of his career, Lancastrian Jet has the class to score again.
