In depth
Verdict
A difficult race to assess with a slight TEAMtalk preference going to recent Ludlow winner Nick The Jewel who recorded a bloodless victory in a similar contest. With question marks about the rest he is the only realistic contender despite his rise in the weights. Bold Hunter normally takes a few runs to come to hand and he could be right here following two average efforts at Plumpton and Hereford. The form of his win at Bangor at the backend of last season has worked out well though he will not want the ground to soften any more. Jupon Vert is a steady if unspectacular prospect who is entitled to have improved over the winter. His best effort came on heavy ground last season so he will want the heavens to open. Flahive's First is a reliable completer though lacks a turn of foot at the death. He can win races but does not look too well handicapped at present. Kind Sir would have an excellent chance on his form from a couple of years ago but his latest efforts have been poor and is best overlooked here. Richard Lee has a habit of working magic on horses who come into his care so watch out for any market moves for Runner Bean who has some good bits of hurdle form in the book. The rest look out of their depth.
