In depth

Verdict

In a modest race, Aisjem is given the vote over Paddy The Optimist and Pewter Light. We have selected Aisjem mainly because, having run well from today's mark at Ludlow last time - on the basis of which he would appear to hold Celia's High and Sissinghurst Storm, although the latter is a course and distance winner - and recent form is something that many of these lack. That includes Paddy The Optimist although, having won this race from a two pounds higher mark last year, it would be folly to rule him out today. Another to consider is Pewter Light, who is four pounds above his winning mark of January 2005. Of the others, Apple Joe would hold decent claims based on his form of 15 months ago, Valley Warrior holds a chance based on his October Worcester run, Kayleigh and Eveon are making their chasing debuts and Designer Label has won from today's mark over course and distance, but that was back in 2003. As we say, it's modest stuff, with the selection being Aisjem.
