In depth

Verdict

Goodtoknow’s second in the Classic Chase at Warwick is the stand-out form in this and Kerry Lee’s nine-year-old is only a pound higher. But stablemate MOUNTAINOUS ran better that the final result suggest in that race and the two-times Welsh National winner is unquestionably well treated nowadays. Amateur Richard Patrick is good value for his 7lb claim and his mount, who has his ground, could cause a bit of an upset here if anywhere near his best. Federici ran well for a long way in the North Yorkshire Grand National at Catterick and could be running into form. Firebird Flyer is capable on his day and Belmount is the only previous course and distance winner in the line-up. Racing Pulse is better than his form figures suggest but this looks a big ask for Streets Of Promise on his reappearance and What A Moment appears in the handicapper’s grip. Waldorf Salad weakened quickly at Bangor and may need another outing to put him straight.
