Godolphin have done well with their stayers over the years so Urban Poet has to be respected despite top weight but Saeed Bin Suroor is really struggling to have winners at present and a better bet may be CRACKENTORP, who is preferred to Dazinski. The Mark Tompkins-trained gelding was good value for his win over this trip at Ripon recently and a 4lb rise for that success is fair despite having to race off a career high mark but this is tougher so he may have to settle for a place at best. Richard Fahey has his string in good order so Cosmic Sun has claims but he is far from certain to stay this far, while Brain Meehan's Aim To Prosper does stay but may be a shade high in the weights having harshly gone up another 2lbs since his reappearance run at Ascot, form on which he is closely matched with Bow To No One. Alan Swinbank's Stanstill kept on well over 1m6f at Southwell and has claims over this slightly longer trip on turf, while Mith Hill is a consistent performer but does have a career high mark to overcome. This looks a hugely competitive handicap and what can only be a tentative vote goes the way of Tim Easterby's Crackentorp, who looks to be going the right way, is bred to appreciate the step up in trip and he looks worth trying over it even in as tough a race as this.
