In depth

Verdict

Lord Gale has a chance to gain the winning thread although Brandeston Ron and Before Run could be just two of the likely dangers. Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge has contested two hot bumpers this season and she was far from disgraced in either of them. Kempton bumpers regularly churn out plenty of winners and she is due compensation here. The market should tell us most about the relative fancies of the Jonjo O'Neill runners. Brandeston Ron has been highly touted in dispatches and of flat-breeding, he is likely to be ready first time. Before Run should have an advantage of race fitness and is duly noted. A watching brief is kept on Guthrie as the Alan King yard has been distinctly noticeable in their absence from the winners enclosure in recent weeks. In a race in which the market will have more than a say, Lord Gale is nominated.
