In depth

Verdict

Some decent types on offer and Royal Rosa will need to win this in order to justify some of the hype that accompanied the purchase tag. There is strength in depth from Fundamentalist, Young Collier and Diamant Noir. Howard Johnson¿s horse has had it pretty easy in the past bullying a series of Northern novices but today will prove the acid test. We believe that Fundamentalist is the one to lower his colours as he looked different class at Kempton despite exhibiting some signs of greenness on the run-in. Young Collier demonstrated a decent attitude to the game with a debut success at Fakenham. Today¿s event is tougher and any ambitions of Festival glory will be put to the sword here. Diamant Noir hails from last year¿s winning stable. She looks the sort who will repeat the success of Ar Muin Na Muice in picking up a whole host of contests but could be vulnerable against her male counterparts. Special Rate is progressive enough but enthusiasm is blunted by the presence of an additional penalty. In short, a good race in prospect with plenty of future winners. Fundamentalist looks the one to be on today.
