Pass Me By could stamp a red-letter day for permit-holder Tim Walford and we will stick with the course and distance winner to beat Nathos, Le Royal and Day Du Roy. Tim Walford's representative looks to have a constitution of iron and proved a resolute enough winner of a qualifier for this. Nathos has been a most progressive type for Charlie Mann and was in a few quality contests down South. Today represents a sizeable step up in grade. Le Royal has won here twice already on a softer surface. He will stay three miles in time and could be vulnerable to anything with a finish. Day Du Roy is owned by the wife of one of Manchester's leading bookmakers. On "home soil" he could go well. Ela Re will not mind the prevailing conditions today and would be at least fit enough to take a hand. Pass Me By is selected to take a valuable contest en route to possible tilts at the festival meets.
