Verdict

Gift Of Silence, bought out of a Windsor seller, has completed a double for new connections, firstly over 1m4f on this track and then over an extended 7f at Chester so this could be his optimum trip. However, three-year-olds have won seven of the last 10 and look to have a strong hand again. SHAMA looked a smart prospect when scoring on Polytrack in April but couldn't handle soft ground and the step up to Group 3 company at York the following month and hasn't run since. She's superbly bred and might well be making her handicap debut from a very lenient mark so is handed the vote. Patterned was a big disappointment at Ripon last month and though This Is The Day looked very progressive at Brighton an 11lb rise could put a damper on follow-up plans. Maven ran a fine race behind Fire Fighting at Ayr last week and could prove the pick of the older horses.
