      Verdict

      Escobar didn’t pull up any trees at Meydan at the start of the year and Danny Tudhope prefers Shelir, who has had a pipe-opener at Chelmsford. Ouzo finished more than a length ahead of Ascension in the Lincoln at Doncaster and they meet on the same terms here. Amber Island has won on Turf but has been confined to the all-weather over the last 18 months while both of Amaysmont’s victories have come on an artificial surface. FINEST SOUND (NAP) was a shade keen on his reappearance at Nottingham but was still only beaten a short-head. The third won the Spring Cup at Newbury last week so that form has a very solid look about it. Redarna looks as though he needs to drop a few pounds in the handicap.
