Verdict

Legal Eagle has been in good form without finding a win so far this term and Westwood made an impressive seasonal return but ETON RIFLES looks to be the better bet. The four-year-old gelding was second to the highly progressive Arganil in a Hamilton maiden in September before cruising clear at Catterick later that month. He took a fierce hold on his handicap debut last time when returning from 237 days off but did incredibly well to go close. He should be more relaxed this time and should have little trouble winning off this mark. Legal Eagle has been runner up at the last three attempts since returning to action back in March. The Dandy Nicholls trained gelding looks capable of going one better before too long and should be the selections toughest competitor here. Westwood was a winner when last seen on his seasonal debut. The high draw may be of benefit to the gelding but he looked to have won on merit last time so a place in among the minors looks in the offing. Harlech Castle was third at Goodwood earlier this month and should be sharper for the run, but he is a little inconsistent. Tudor Prince was a winner last time and has the benefit of the high draw here but his profile suggests he may find it hard to follow up so we will stick with Eton Rifles.
