The tone is set for a very good card by this opening race which is full of really decent sorts and we think KNOW THE LAW looks fairly treated on handicap debut so has our confidence ahead of Royal Rationale and Safari Journey. The pick was pretty useful on the flat having won off a mark of 75 and has shown a talent for jumping in four starts over timber. His run on hurdles debut when only just beaten by the talented Gloucester is the performance that suggests his mark is fair and he is unexposed in the National Hunt scene so he can improve beyond his current rating. Royal Rationale is carrying a seven pound penalty for a cosy success last time out at a similar level. He ran with credit in a listed event at Aintree during April so he is firmly on the short list, however he does seem to be carrying a lot of weight. Safari Journey won three out of four starts on the level and has scored twice since being sent hurdling. He unseated his pilot at the first fence last time when trying to land a hat-trick and while he should go well here his mark looks high. Kingscape should also be involved off a fair at best mark but the best treated looks to be Know The Law who is taken to score.
