Verdict

A small field but all arrive in good form. ONLY THE BOLD won between the flags and over hurdles and is unbeaten in two starts over fences, the latest in a Hereford handicap for which he is up 10lb. Richmond Lake comfortably won a Wetherby handicap then made a bold bid to defy a 6lb rise when just failing to concede One Fine Man 15lb at Ayr. Arthur‘s Quay completed a hat-trick in Class 4 handicaps before jumping poorly in a two-runner race at Newcastle while Ned Tanner defied a couple of mistakes to get up close home over an extended 2m7f at Kelso.
