In depth

Verdict

Not much public form to go on in this maiden and from a shortlist of Striker Torres, Captain Scooby and Secret City we will nominate Captain Scooby as the pick. The selection showed plenty of promise on his debut when he chased home Officer mor on fast ground at Beverley and this Captain Rio colt may well improve for racing on this more testing ground. He sets a decent standard and should be tough to beat. Striker Torres catches the eye on breeding and this Danehill Dancer colt is another that should be perfectly at home on this ground, so he has to be on the shortlist on his racecourse debut. Secret City has shown promise on both of his starts to date, both on fast ground, and he has to prove that he will be at home on this surface. He will need to improve to get competitive, a comment that would also apply to Richard Fahey's Olympic Dream. The market may provide the clues here, but we are happy to side with Captain Scooby as the pick.
