      Verdict

      A fine renewal of this Listed race and Red Jazz, who usually takes on better opposition, will be fancied to repeat last year's victory despite failing to make much of an impression in a couple of runs in Dubai over the winter. PASTORAL PLAYER won a Group 3 over track and trip last summer and will be all the better for an outing at Ascot when he didn't really enjoy the run of race. He could come out on top today, though Gregorian is feared on his third in last year's St James's Palace Stakes and Set The Trend rarely runs a bad race when the ground is good or quicker. Eton Forever and Pintura are also capable in this grade but the three-year-old Emell may struggle.
