Verdict

The feature event of the day and Multidimensional is selected as he takes a marked drop in class after finishing seventh last time in the Eclipse at Sandown. While he falls below the Group 1 standard, he is one that should be capable of picking up a contest of this type, certainly on the evidence of his fine second behind Macarthur in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot. He did finish behind Championship Point in the Huxley Stakes but failed to handle the undulations of the Roodee. Flying Clarets credentials would be enhanced if this race were to be run in testing conditions. The winner of the John Smith's Cup on her penultimate start, quick ground found her out last time. Spanish Moon was strongly fancied to land the Hardwicke but left his race behind him at the start, getting very warm in the preliminaries and also displaying temperament issues at the start. It could be that he has not progressed as one would have expected from his victories seasonal debut. Smokey Oakey caused a major surprise in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes but will need to step up from that again. Multidimensional looks a class above these and can land his first victory of the season.
