The Old Borough Cup has been a good race for favourites in recent times, so bear this in mind, with our choice being Sagredo ahead of Samurai Way and Dansili Dancer. The Chester Cup winner Greenwich Meantime, who is four pounds above that winning rating, can't be ruled out of a good run. Samurai Way rates as a lightly-raced improver in the hands of a trainer who has done well in handicaps this season, including at Goodwood last time, from which race he is closely weighted with Tilt. Regal Flush benefited from a break and the step up in trip on his return when scoring at Goodwood last time and, up in trip again, he is not ruled out of a good run. Dansili Dancer warmed up for this with a good 12-furlong win here, on which form he is closely weighted with Misty Dancer, and is not ruled out from his five-pounds higher rating. His winning run may have come to an end at Chester but Sagredo remains progressive and the winner there, the Luca Cumani-trained Bauer, looks smart, while Cape Secret races here from a winning mark, and Inchnadamph has shown that he can be competitive from around today's mark, including when second in last season's Cesarewitch. Finally, Clueless is weighted to reverse earlier Ayr form with Misty Dancer, Lets Roll has dropped to a fair mark if anywhere near his recent best, Record Breaker could be open to some improvement over today's trip, and, who knows, a big step up in trip may yet bring improvement from Bjan Parkes. For the selection, though, we will stick with Sagredo.
