    Nonrunner

    In depth

    Verdict

Really, you could make a claim for just about all of the runners but we will side with Eloquent Rose ahead of Blithe and First Mate. A soft-ground winner at Chepstow in May, Tom Tower will at least handle the going although we would like to know why he has been absent form the track since June. Blithe did not quite get home at Folkestone last time or she might have won so, back in trip and being likely to handle the conditions, she has to be considered. First Mate was third behind two decent types last time and, as he seems to be improving for experience, can also not be left out. Eloquent Rose was second in a Listed race last time and, with her form being solid and, also, with the potential for some more improvement on today's going, she gets the vote.
