In depth

Verdict

Soller Bay slips further down the ratings but hasn’t been in the best of form. Rose Fandango still looks in the handicapper’s grip and Eternal Glory continues to ruin her chance by pulling too hard, though she did beat subsequent Carlisle winner Emily Post on Tapeta in the spring. Raised only a pound for finishing a much-improved second at Thirsk, SPEAR FIR looks well placed to record a first victory if she handles the extra furlong as Trois Vallees has shown her best form at Newcastle.
