The big race of the day can go to Reverence, who is favoured ahead of Amadeus Wolf and Steenberg. There is not much to choose on ratings here between the July Cup fourth and Nunthorpe runner-up, Amadeus Wolf, the Nunthorpe and Temple Stakes winner, Reverence, the Golden Jubilee Stakes runner-up Balthazaar's Gift, the Nunthorpe fifth Red Clubs, the Group 2 York winner Steenberg, and the horse he beat narrowly there, Quito. And don't forget we also have the 2004 winner of this race, Somnus in the line-up, and he loves soft going. It all adds up to a good race, one in which the going has to have a huge bearing on things. Which of those mentioned has the best profile in this respect? Well, in our view it is Reverence, even though he still has to prove his effectiveness at this level at six furlongs.
